Bay to Dunes Educator

Be a volunteer for the Bay to Dunes Education Program. Field trip guides are needed to take small groups of 3rd-6th graders into the dunes and out to the bay on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Through hands-on activities, field trip guides teach kids about native dunes plants, habitat restoration, salt marsh ecology, animal tracking, birdwatching, freshwater invertebrates, dune geology, and human history. A full training is provided, call 707-444-1397 or email suzie@friendsofthedunes.org for more information.

Ocean Day Class Leader

Volunteer to be a class leader for Ocean Day on June 7th, 2012. Ocean Day is a large event with about 1,000 students participating! We need class leaders to guide school groups in habitat restoration and beach clean-up activities. A training is provided, and volunteers receive a free t-shirt! Contact Suzie at 707-444-1397 or suzie@friendsofthedunes.org for more information.

Coastal Naturalist Training

Become a Friends of the Dunes Coastal Naturalist! Every fall we offer an in-depth training covering topics like botany, geology, birds, insects, animal tracking, cultural history, coastal ecology and interpretation techniques. Training sessions are led by local experts. In exchange for this in-depth and professional FREE training, we ask a minimum volunteer commitment of 3 hours every few months, either leading restoration workdays, leading guided walks or serving as a Coastal Naturalist Ambassador.

No time to volunteer? Leading walks not your cup of tea? You can still take the training for the very reasonable cost of $60 for the entire training, or $10 to drop in on a session. Call 707-444-1397 or email info@friendsofthedunes.org for more information or to sign up.
