Share the Beach Spring and Summer Interns
5-10 hours per week, $240-$500 stipend April-August
Help educate the public about beach wildlife and responsible recreation on weekends and holidays in the spring and summer months. Spend a few hours each weekend at Clam and Little River beaches showing beach-goers the threatened western snowy plover through a spotting scope, providing educational materials, serving as a source of information about beach regulations, helping to coordinate volunteers and assisting with monthly public beach ecology educational programs.
Internship positions are either:
April-August ($500 stipend awarded upon completion of hours)
or
June-August ($250 stipend awarded upon completion of hours)

Bay to Dunes Education Interns
5-10 hours per week March-June, $200-$400 stipend
Bay to Dunes interns lead field trips and/or classroom presentations that bring Humboldt County 3rd-6th graders to the Manila Dunes for a day of fun educational activities and games. $200 stipends are available for those who can commit to at least one field trip and/or classroom presentation per week (or 5 hours/week), $400 stipends are available for those who can commit to two field trips or classroom presentations per week (or 10 hours/week). Stipends are awarded at the end of the season upon completion of hours and a small reflection project.
Please be sure this works for your schedule before applying! Field trips take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. (interns can stay for the whole field trip, or lead the morning session from 9-11 or the afternoon session from 11:30-1:30). Classroom presentations take place on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school day at various times. Interns are required to attend a 2-4 day training beginning at the end of March.

Work-Study Positions

Education Assistant 8.00-9.00 per hour, work-study
Assist with the Bay to Dunes Education program by leading 3-6th graders in field activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays and/or making presentations in the classroom. Training provided. 5-10hrs/week.
Nonprofit Internship: 8.00-9.00 per hour, work-study
Working for a nonprofit often involves a variety of skills, invaluable experience in the areas of membership development, marketing, public relations, volunteer management, program development, special event planning and more. 5-10 hours/week. Flexible hours.
